The SHAlleluia elementary choir is a group made up of around 25 students who attend Sacred Heart Academy. The choir is open to anyone in the 4th-6th grades who is willing to attend practices and use his/her musical skill and talent, as well as leadership abilities, to praise our Lord and help encourage and strengthen the worship life of the students and community at our school Masses. Rehearsals are held twice weekly after school under the direction of Mrs. Marge Schafer, SHA fourth grade teacher and parish cantor. The SHAlleluia choir leads the singing at approximately every other school Mass throughout the school year.
The group has also taken part in several community events, such as the lighting of the Christmas tree at our local hospital, a Mother's Day tea at the Isabella County Commission on Aging, and the Mt. Pleasant Community National Day of Prayer service, as well as our annual SHAGala Preview Night, among others. Special SHAllelui T-shirts are worn for these events.
Our ultimate goals are to promote participation in the music at our liturgies, to encourage attendance and singing at Sunday Masses and other parish worship services, and to prepare our students to be future parish song leaders, choir members, and active members of the parish who recognize their part in making Sacred Heart Academy and Church the center of prayer life for all.
